René Wissink (Deventer / NL, 21-11-1965) grew up as the only child of a single mother who was deputy director at M.I.D. Carpet weavers and responsible for all marketing, collections and design together with internationally renowned designer Ulf Moritz. After primary and secondary school (HAVO), René went to study at the Art Academy (AKI) in Enschede. In 1989 he started his own agency, Architectuur Atelier Argo(s). René graduated in 1990 with Maurice Beijk on the Mondi Fierno project. The renovation of 4 water reservoirs on Aruba into an entertainment center. From August to May 1991 he worked for Architectenbureau Groothuis & Postma. From May 1991 to August 1993 working independently for Studio di Architettura (Buro of Aldo Rossi in NL) together with Eric Hulstein and Umberto Barbieri. In 1992, René received a grant for a furniture project from the Sofa Foundation in The Hague. The result was shown in the form of an exhibition in September 1993 at Galerie Stijl in Arnhem. From August 1993 to February 2007, he worked as interior architect and graphic designer for B&C International. From February 2007 he became fully independent. In March 2007 the largest project of his career started: the Savonet Museum i.s.m. Felix de Rooy (concept), Lucien Guljé and others. For the Savonet Museum he designed the first concept for an audio guide, the podcatcher, for Guide ID from Deventer. Since March 2017, René has been working as a part-time designer at Guide ID (Audio Guides), as an external creative professional at Cibap in Zwolle and still as Atelier Argos for various clients such as the Asia Society (with Jeroen de Vries, Coal + Ice ), monographs of Yubi Kirindongo and Norva Sling (Museum Beelden aan Zee), Architecture Center Rondeel (Deventer) and since a year for EICAS (European Institute for Contemporary Art and Science).
